My sister does this almost every year for her daughter's birthday parties. She will pick a hotel that charges for adults and allows children under 18 for free. She will rent adjoining rooms, and let her daughter invite about 10 girls to spend the night. They go swimming, use the exercise room and the hot tub room. They might go shopping or to a movie and then come back and have a slumber party in the hotel room. They seem to have a good time.

May I offer one plus, and one caution? The plus is, you do not have to do the clean up before cause company is coming and clean up after because company came, and left, and left a mess. The one caution is that you need to be very careful as the pools, hot tubs, saunas and fitness equipment are "use at your own risk" There are no lifeguards. I know of someone who nearly drowned at a similar party. That does not mean I would not do it, it sounds like fun.

When it concerns kids the best thing to do is leave it as a slumber party but no other facilities. Also room service should be closely monitored because kids rarely know how to control themselves and that could cost you a bundle.

That is a nice idea, the girls surely enjoy all those things. It wouldn't work for me, as there is only one motel in this tiny town...and the rooms there are 89 dollars each..so 180 dollars plus tax...too much money for me! The motel also doesn't have a pool or exercise room. So, I'd be paying 180 dollars to have a group of girls sitting in a room watching TV! Ha!! That is a fine idea though for those in larger cities!

That sounds like great fun. Pity hotel rooms in this country are hardly big enough for 1 person most of the time let alone 5 and they don't usually lety ou have kids with you for free.

Heheh I agree .. last time I stayed in a hotel room it was supposed to be a double room ... but it was a tight squeeze to get along the wall to get into the bed .. thank goodness I was their on my own so I could push the bed over a bit amd make myself some room .. !

What a wonderful idea this is estherlou. Not only are the children having some fun but they are also getting a night out. Also they can be more easily supervised in this manner and the cost will be reasonable. That is sometimes the limiting factor in having a birthday party for children, i.e. the cost. Also it is original instead of parents trying to outdo each other with all the fancy things that they arrange.
Congratulations to your sister for coming up with a novel idea for her daughter to celebrate her special day. :)

nice , this looks good planning for the party. for a wonderful enjoyment with under18 kids.
but as far as my self is concerned if the party is for grown up ones ., please share the mood of party with your parents and close relatives. they will be so excited with your wish and call

That is a good idea! We love hotels.
My daughter has her birthday in August. We have property so we can set up a car port tent and have tables, chairs, flowers, food, drinks and games to play. She is a teen now and so their party can be more somber with all the things they can talk about. Guys and girls have a good time. Her brother can meet new people and it can be a nice time had by all.

That is a terrific idea Esterlou! I'm always looking for new ways to have the kids birthday parties and this one sounds like it could be a lot of fun and economical! My youngest has the big 12th coming up in November and I'll start checking to see if any hotels in our area offer similar deals early in the Fall. Please do thank your sister for me as I might just go with this idea. Cheers!

I've only ever had one party on my Birthday ... (well there were two parties when I was a child but I was ill for both of them and couldn't go to my own party !) .. on my 21st Birthday I was living in Africa .. and some of the folks there had bought me some 'extra special' bottles of drink (hard to get where we were 90 miles down a dirt road from any shops) .. the party was going well until I turned round only to find my husband (now ex) splashing around my very special drinks ..
I never forgave him .. it's one of those things you just don't do .. had out other folks Birthday gifts without asking .. had he asked I would have almost certainly said yes .. it was the fact he didn't even think to ask !

Nice idea. Only difficulty is we don't have below 18 years free sort of condition at our nearby place.

I can see how that would be fun but I'd hate to be the person trying to sleep in the room next door!! Seriously though, it does sound like a lot more fun that just your typical slumber party, especially if you don't have fun things for the kids to do at home. Personally I loved sleepover at my house because we had an arcade, pool table, tons of craft stuff and we were allowed to stay up all night watching TV/movies and snacking!

Well, I don't think she needs more ideas for a party. That sounds like a better party ever. I wish my parents ever did that to me for my birthdays.

It sounds great to me. We did something similar with my girl scout troop when I was a kid.
