I'm the lazy one. If possible, I always do circular. Actually, I prefer circular needles, even if I'm not knitting in round. Especially if I'm knitting something big I feel the difference. It's much easier to knit with circular needles, especially for my hands and shoulders. Perhaps 'ergonomic' is the right word to use.

Yes, I know what you mean. Circular needles distribute the weight of the work more evenly.

I definitely prefer circular needles! I hate purling and knitting things in the round usually eliminates most purling (and I hate seaming too). Also, I just find circulars to be so much more comfortable and portable. I knit practically everything on circulars, even if it's a flat piece.

I prefer knitting in the round as well. Although some things do turn out better if they are knitted flat. I just want the item to come off of the needles as a finished product.

I'm a knitting newbie, and I prefer straight knitting to knitting in the round. The reason is that I tried knitting in the round but I somehow messed it up so it was eternally twisted- like an infinity sign. No biggie, so I frogged it and started it again. Same problem. So, for now, I'm just going to keep practicing straight knitting and sewing it together. *sigh*

That is a tricky thing about circular knitting...joining without twisting. Although I have seen some projects that call for "mobius" strips...that's the infinity thing. I haven't made one yet...well not on purpose at least :-)

I like to knit with circular needles, because it is easier to cary your project along. Actually, I like to knit the pieces individually and then seem them together. To finish up the seem, I just crochet the pieces together, it is very simple.

I'm exactly the same way! I love knitting but hate sewing up seams, I find I'm so bad at it that it tends to ruin the project for me!!
I love knitting on circular needles, even for things that won't be seamed, like an afghan that I'm currently working on. It's so wide that it won't fit on regular needles, but I like the circular anyway because it's easier for knitting in the car or something, because the needles aren't so long they get in the way!
It takes a while to get used to, but it's totally worth it!

I am exactly the same, I much prefer knitting in the round and tend to make a lot of socks and hats as well. I also do a fair amount of histroical knitting, so knitting on four or five double pointed needles is usually the most accurate way to achieve the correct result. I really dislike sewing knitted garments together.

I absolutely prefer circular needles. I also hate finishing. I once made a whole sweater in the round, the only seaming you had to do were two small slits under the armpits. Even if I'm knitting something flat, I use round needles. They are easier on my wrists.
Plus if I buy more circular needles in whatever size I can use them for both circular and flat projects. This makes buying them more economical too!

I feel the exact same way - I love to knit, but hate, hate, hate finishing and seaming. I learned to use circular needles fairly early on, but it seems as though there are so few things you can make on circulars that need seaming anyway. I just learned to use dpn's last year (it was my New Year's resolution in 2006, and I learned just before Christmas) and now I have no idea why I waited so long. Casting on aside, there's really nothing to them - and now I'd much, much rather knit in the round than have to sew anything up when I'm finished.

well i have never tried circular knitting i have always just done straight knitting but i would like to try circular knitting because i do not like the seams that you get from straight knitting i love knitting but i also hate the finishing i never really learned the right way to finish off anything so i just have to wing it and i just tie a bunch of knots until it is secure maybe when i get more time on my hands i will try to learn how to knit the circular way
