What valentines gift would you buy for someone who can't eat chocolates?

Knowing how expensive flowers are at the this time of year, what alternative present would you buy someone for valentines that can't eat chocolate, if you can't afford to buy them flowers?

Well, I'm not really a Valentine's Day kind of person, but I guess I would try to get something personal. I would try to write a poen showing my feelings for that person, and put it in a home made card, or perhaps draw a picture, and put it in a small frame. Other than that, I would just prepare a really nice meal with all their favourite food, light some candles, play their favourite music, and just relax and be romantic!

I love the idea of being romantic ;)

If they enjoy doing their fingernails, how about a few bottles of really nice nail polish, some polish remover, a few emory boards, and the like and place them into a cute basktet! How about some fruit placed into a basket (you could line the basket with red tissue paper to make it more festive!). How about some skin care items in a basket; lotion, bath beads/oil, a new loofa, and such. How about a nice pair of mittens...with a note that reads, "I want to warm your hands as well as your heart!" Whatever you decide, enjoy the day!

I love the idea for the mittens, it would be a great present for me as my hands are often cold and I frequently wear gloves when I'm using my computer.

There are tons of adorable stuffed animals for Valentine's day. I saw some very reasonably priced ones in Walgreens the other day. Other than that, I don't know; I guess it would depend on the person. I don't know if you're talking about a child or your husband! I don't know how much a grown man would appreciate a stuffed animal!

I am talking about a man. In this country we don't give valentines gifts to children.

those sound like great presents. I have never been given anything for valentines before only cards, and last year my daughter bought me some flowers.

Morning Michelle! Go to your local dollar store, they have lots of Valentine's cards. Also get a nice bottle of lotion. Write your lovely thoughts in the card. Print up a free body massage coupon on the computer. Give hubby a nice massage for Valentine's Day. No, chocolate, and save big bucks from buying a seven dollar card. All that really counts are the words you write in it. :)

I have already bought a cheap card as I agree with you that its the words you put in that count not the card itself. A massage is a great idea...thanks.

whos to say you really need to actually spend money.. its always the thought that counts.. maybe write a poem or something. or cook them a romantic dinner. money isnt everything and if you can do something that shows you care the thought will last just as long as any material thing you could buy. i also dont really have alot of money but i will spend the whole day with my b/f and maybe cook him breaky and just be together.

cooking a romantic meal would be a lovely thing to do, although I would have to argue that it would cost money...but a lot less than going to a restaurant!

I dn´t think that it is the gift that counts - just the fact that u care about them. But if u really wanna buy him/her something - howw about a cute teddy-bear!

Hi Michelle, I think if I could not afford to buy flowers and the person cannot eat chocolates, then I would make a special card for them with something that I had personally written to them about themselves to keep or a glass picture which has a great meaning in it that they could always look at to insprire them on every day.

I used to get my mom a flower (since dad passed away) but then they got so expensive, i started buying her candles, I do the same thing for my sister (she got a divorce) and used to give the kids money, but they are older now and in college so I've since stopped that.

Go on your computer, make a presentation of favorite pictures and music, showing him how much you love him and care. Is very personal, will not cost much either, and he can watch it over and over. Make a nice dinner, spaghetti is always popular and very economical, actually anything with pasta. How about bread dough roses....here is a gift that you can make---use all of it or parts of it. Fil the box up with pictures and memories fro things you have done. http://www.ilovetocraft.com/wedding/wedding-box.shtml

Can they have candy? I would get them some of those conversation hearts, sweettart hearts, red cherry hearts with the sugar on them and some other variety valentine candy. If they can't have candy I would get them a gift card or take them to the movies or dinner.

I don't know how creative you are, but you could try writing a poem from the h eart and then forming a collage around it so it frames it really nicely. Definitely a gift for the heart. I remember one year when we were still dating, my husband couldn't afford to get me anything for Valentine's Day, so he wrote me out a love letter listing a hundred things he loved about me. Another year, he wrote me a romantic story. Gifts like that really touch the person you're giving them to because they come from within and really show them how you feel.

i dont like presents on valentines so i guess that leaves me out lol...anyway if the person cannot eat chocolate nor receive flowers.....i'd go for something original, like for example a pic of that person in a frame.

Why not get them a pair of valentines socks, coffe cup with hearts on it, book, gift certificate to a restaurant or for a massage? There are so many ideas that don't involve chocolate or flowers.

Small basket or box with home made cookies, nice if heart shaped.Everyone can be happy about. It is low cost, but time consuming.
