How long did your delivery take?

I was just astounded reading a news story about a birth that happened so fast that the child ended up being born in the woman's pantleg! She made it to the hospital, but once she got out of the car and was in the parking lot, the birth happened so fast that the infant ended up in her pant leg. There were doctors and physicians nearby who helped to take care of her and the baby after that.
How long did the birth of your child/children take? I hear so many stories of labor that lasts for days or more, that this woman's story seems truly amazing to me! Don't you agree?
You can read the whole story here:

I have 4 children and my delivery went really fast with all my children. They were born with in 1/2 hour after I got to the hospital.I feel so sorry for the ones that take 4 days to deliver.

I have four children. Each of my four labors was almost four hours to the minute in length! The first one might have been considered a bit longer...as I was scared and went to the hospital a bit early. They went ahead and admitted me and let me just sit in the room and watch TV..if you count that time it would be 6 hours!

I must have gotten lucky with my labor and delivery. My really hard labor only lasted a few hours before I gave birth to a 9 lb. baby. I have also heard the horror stories and I am glad it wasn't me. Maybe that's why I only had one child.

I heard about this on the news or radio or something. Anyways, when I had my first daughter, Ashley, I was in labor for about 14 hours. My water broke at 8 a.m. while I was at the hospital (and they were about to send me home), and then 3.5 hours later I had her. She was 10 days early, but she was very easy to deliver. With my second daughter, Aradia, I had her at a birth center and all natural. I went into mild labor at around 1 a.m., and then my contractions started getting worse at around 4 a.m. We ended up at the birth center at around 5:45 a.m., and then I was still in labor from then until they broke my water around 7:15 a.m. Once I was dilated to 10 cm (at around 7:29 a.m.), I started pushing. Mind you this was a water birth, which was supposed to alleviate the pain some, but it really didn't. It hurt like hell, and then she was born at 7:42 a.m. I pushed her out in 13 minutes, and it also only took me 13 minutes to push my oldest daughter, Ashley, out as well.

With my son I went into labor at midnight. After a 3 hour, 80-100 mile drive(we were visiting my grandfather.) a stop to pee at Granny's, a Retread coming off, and 3 hours of 3 minute apart labor we got to the birthing center just as my water broke. 3 hours of hard labor later he was born at 6:08 am
My daughter I had Braxton hicks for 2 weeks before. On the day of her birth I was told to take Castor Oil at 6am. I went to the Center for an appointment at 2:00pm and they told me I was in labor. They did a cervical massage and I started feeling small pains. I went home and at 6:00 pm I could feel the contractions were getting stronger.At6:30 my water broke and we started to the center. We got there about 7:00 and the pains were strong. I got in a bath, and at 8:00 I got out to be checked. They told me to get back in the tub, but I did not feel like I could. I was told I had plenty of time, but A couple of min.s later, I was ready to push and she was born at 8:38 pm.
So I was in labor 6 hours with both and had 3& 2 1/2 hours of hard labor each. Sorry to go on so but you asked! =O}

I wish my labour was that fast lol . With my first it took four days to have her and with my second it took almost two days to have , my labor kept getting stuck on stage seven . But with my other children it was much faster , as soon as I would get the epidural (which I never had with the first two ) I would end up having to push right away as each time the baby was ready to come out . They say each time it gets easier and for me it did . If I should have another one it should be really quick lol .

Interseting story shywolf, I don't have a short story only the first 2 of mine were natural after that c-section, yuk! My first I went into labor on Sat at 1:30 am I went to the hospital a nuber of times over the next sevaral days, by Tuesday morning around 1:30 am again they gave me a shot and sent me home as they said it would be several more days before I delivered and I needed to rest. I got home got into my night gown and as I was walking across the floor to my bed my water broke, I went back to the hospital it is now Tuesday morning 3:30 am he didn't show up until 2:27pm that afternon. So it was days on the first.
The second I didn't even realize I was in labor until about 7:00 am I kept feeling like I had to pee, but couldn't go and every so often my back would cramp, I went to the hospital at about 9:30 am. I was checked at 1:00 pm and told that it would be about another hour before I would be ready to push, the nurse then left the room. A few minutes later I told my then husband "that he needed to get the nurse the baby was coming" and he said "no it isn't she said another hour." I yelled "get the nurse." She was born at 1:14pm
I found that babies come on their terms not the terms others set, unless prearranged by c-section. Even then they can change your plans. :)

I have heard of women giving birth that fast, I assume that they didn't suffer any labour pains!
My kids were longer.
I was induced with my first daughter so that was quick about 5 hours. With my second I was having contractions from the morning when I got up and they got bad around 2am the following day and I went to hospital then and had her at 5:30am.
I thought I was quick, but I certainly had plenty of notice that it was going to happen.

I was lucky with all my kids-- fairly short labors of about 4 hours each. I can't even imagine being in labor for an entire day!

WEll that is really amazing, you can only dream of that happening. My first one was 13 hours and the second one they started my labor and took about as long but not as bad as the first one. I have heard of some friends of mine that if they didn't go to hospital right away the baby was born in the car. I wasn't that lucky and was very painful. Would never exchange the experience though.

I wish mine would have been that fast!! I went to be enduced on Friday at 6pm and began labor at about 10pm that night. At 11pm Sat. night he still wasn't there. They ended up doing a c-section and he was delivered at 12:01am Sunday morning. It was miserable. Next time it's c-section to start with!

I have not had any children as of yet but I just heard about this same story you mentioned on the radio this morning on the way to my parents house. I was shocked to hear that she gave birth while she still had her clothes on. They were making jokes about this situation. From what they said on the radio, was that she was not aware that she was about to give birth. It was good to know that mother and child are doing well. What a way to enter the world, wouldn't you agree? :-)

Wow! And I thought my deliveries were fast! LOL
I delivered in the hospital hallway in front of all! ha ha
And my doctors came to know how fast I delivered so when I called, they were always ready and waiting for me. ha ha
My 6th child they literally ran me to the labor room in a wheel chair and they told me to lay on the bed and push! I gave birth laying on my side because they didn't even allow me to roll to my back!
My last child, they decided that since I was 7 cm dilated and not in labor or in pain, they didn't want to risk me going into labor at home because I wouldn't make it out of the house! ha ha ha So they just had me walk into the hospital and popped my water...I had him 15 minutes after they popped my water from zero labor.
That poor lady! Maybe next time she should just stay home and call an ambulance instead. :)

I was induced 9 weeks early due to pre-e. They induced me and 4 hours later decided I needed a c-section. She is my one and only so far. Hopefully for my next one it's a better experience!

Aww...My first was born 10 weeks early and the second pregnancy was much better. The doc's kept an extra eye on me...it meant more doctor's appointments but more ultrasounds to see the baby :D

Well I was in labor for a week, but didn't know it. I thought I was having normal gas pains. When I finally went to the hospital, I had my baby in one hour.

My baby was a week over due, so we had a scheduled induction. I went in at 6 pm, my water broke at around midnight that night, and my baby was born via c-section a little before 9 the following night. Unlike the person who had her baby so quickly, my child's birth was very long, but definately worth it.
