I actually use both at the same time. I put the powder in the slot that opens later in the wash and gel in the slot that has holes in the door so the gel can ooze out while it is washing. That way it wont bunch up and harden inside the slot when it gets wet and not do its job.

Powder, I think the liquid is more expensive. I get it from Sam's Club-not name brand.

I guess liquid. I used that for a long time. I used cascade. But now I've discovered electrosol. And I love it! The best so far, for us.

I wish that I had a dishwasher. What a time saver that would be for me!

I use a liquid dishwasher detergent. Personally I like Electrosol. For the past nine months, I've been using Palmolive though, and it is working well. I like the price better.

I use the gel, the powder sticks in my dishwasher, and I think the gel last longer. I like Cascade.

Does it really matter? I don't think it matters one bit really we just use the blocks of detergent.

I personally prefer the gel kind. The powder kind always seemed to get stuck in the glasses. I tend to buy whatever is on sale.
