Have You Ever Worn a Wig?

I have tried on wigs but don't have the confidence to pull off wearing something that I know is not "mine". They never seem to fit my head properly. Having said that, I admire people who can do it and look so good. So, have you ever worn a wig and what did it look like?

Hello Urbangirl, The only time I've ever worn a wig was as Mae West one year for Halloween. Even then it was difficult to pull off because I have alot of hair. So, getting it pinned down well enough to not have a lump under a wig was a real challenge. I think wigs can be playful and fun, but I tend to be more of a naturalist. So, I'll stick with what I've got. For those gals who do wear them either for fun, or out of necessity -- more power to ya'. I think it's great that they're available for any gal who has the desire. Especially, since wig manufacturing has come so far. Wigs really look real these days.

I wear wigs a lot because they are so convenient to wear and style without having to go to the hair salon every week to get my hair done. Plus, I'm a gemini so I love wearing different styles and lengths of wigs. I haven't tried different shades of wigs because I do want it to look realistic and match my eyebrow color. I have never been conscious about my wig...especially since so many people believe it to be my hair. I just tell them that it is not my hair and then they are even more intriqued by it and want me to take them wig shopping...LOL. My profile picture is me with a wig...FYI. Naturally, I have curly hair and below the shoulder length hair underneath my wig. The great thing is that my hair grows longer underneath the wig. I love keeping people on their toes!

I am a magician .I can say this because I am currently making the hair on my head dissappear(rapidly,it seems to me).I have had people ask me about dyeing my graying folicles or even a toupee.I have always felt this is part of the aging process so I accept it and would not consider hiding who/what I am.

blonde wig - blonde wig ; I wonder if this will look good on me....
I've never worn a wig my whole life and I wish I won't have too. My hair is so thick it can be enough for two people, hahaha, sometimes the hairstylist jokes that I have another face lying beneath my thick hair kinda like the teacher of Harry Potter in the first movie. I think wearing a wig is like wearing clothes or shoes, a person need to find what suits them best in order to look good while wearing it, otheriwise it will really look like a hat resting on their head. Come to think of it, I'm curious on how I will look with a blonde hair, oh what the heck! hahaha!

Yes - once! I have very straight, flat, thin, fine hair, and I've always wanted thick, naturally curly hair, so when I was going to a function once, I wore a long, very curly wig - still my own blonde colour, but all ringlets! Everyone said it suited me, and it looked good, but I didn't really enjoy the experience very much because I felt uncomfortable all night! I thought that the wig would slip, or fall off or something - LOL! I also found it very "itchy" and uncomfortable, so i wouldn't want to repeat the experience.

I haven't tried wearing a wig yet.Not even in the dramas at school, lol. But some people have great confidence and carry it almost like their skin .I am not sure I would exude that level of confidence wearing a wig.I'd be worried about it slipping out of my head.Who knows ,if I go to a fancy dress party or someone dares me , I might try it out, lol. It might come back as a nightmare to haunt me later, lol.

I own 3 wigs all of which are very different to my own hair. I've only ever worn one of them in public and that was to a fancy dress party! I bought them on a whim I guess and I really do like them and I also think the styles/colours really suit me. I just feel like an idiot when I'm wearing them. Don't know why but I just don't feel comfortable with them on.

I had a wig and a hairpiece back in the 70's and wore one or the other quite frequently and nobody ever knew the difference because it was the same color as my hair and it saved going to get my hair fixed as often.

I've only worn a wig at Halloween. For a long time, I thought I'd cut my hair really short and wear a smooth bob wig since my hair was always so frizzy...but I never did.

Hi, I think like you I would be worried about wearing a wig, although I've been tempted many times as there are some lovely ones about! I have worn the fake hair extentions like clips and stuff, and they don't look too bad at all! My hairs really long now so I don't need them anymore!

I have never worn a wig before either. I think it could be fun, but I think I would be really self conscious thinking that people might be able to tell that it's fake, or that it might fall off or something. lol It would be cool though to try sometime just for fun.

I've worn wigs and the hair clip type extensions quite a bit. I never kept the habit up for long at a time because they got hot and annoying, but I reckon they looked pretty good on me considering i never put a ton of money into it.

I have never worn a wig or even thought about it until now. Growing up I thought only old ladies wore wigs and cancer patients. Now it seems to be fashionable. I like the idea of being able to change my hair and look and then change back to me again. I usually just die my hair assorted colours but this is an easier option and not permanent. Thanks for the thought

Yes but not a proper one, only those scarey ones in the toy shops. It was a pretty frightening sight.
