Does anyone have great plants to recommend for shadey areas? Can anyone think of plants that come back even when their planted in a pot?

ramaam Impatiens and flowering begonias are my suggestion. Ground orchids also flower in shade to some extent.

I have a large area of ivy in my backyard that weeds like to try to overrun. But I go out there and try to make sure that the weeds do not kill off my ivy and other plants that I DO want. However, I fear going back in there now...
