Sandy100 It does seem odd that he'd have just left it, but it was his room for ages, maybe he used to lend it to his favourite (slytherin) pupils to help them along?

Sandy100 Think your probably right, he dosen't really boast in the other books. I was thinking more it may have been an imposter and not snake due to the age, but your points about his family explain that pretty well i think.
