somebeach1 I work as a Paramedic and volunteer for a Heavy Rescue Squad. It seems sometime that yes I am taken for granted and I get no recognition but if thats what I did it for I would be miserable. I do it for my community and for the brotherhood of life long friends...

I'm thinking about taking an EMT course next semester! IS anyone else here an EMT? Is there any potential to make enough money to survive doing it?? I'm sure it will be interesting/exciting but I need to pay the bills as well!

somebeach1 You can survive if thats really what you wanted to do. I put myself through Paramedic school, my wife through RN school with a one year old on a EMT salary. You just have to really want it and it be your passion. I will say this if you have any experience...

EMT certification?

Anyone know if it is easy to become a certified EMT and what the pay is?

somebeach1 I'm a Medic in NC and before I was layed off I was making $9.00 an hour and when I was a EMT Basic I made $7.15. If I cross the line with this i apologize, make sure you realize what the job is and means to you before you jump in head first. Any more questions...
