Anna My mother in law did not like to celebrate her birthday, she even got upset if we called to with her Happy Birthday, same the mother of one of our friend. The best is to respect their wish. This is a nice gift.

DE @thehazelsister I don't know the age of consent in Indonesia. In the US, the parents can't tell you what to do after you reach 18 years old, if you have a job and make enough to support yourself.

Anna @thehazelsister Often men take thing for granted and in their opinion they are never those who had to take care of things. Of course it's also a cultural thing, in some countries it's more evident than in others.

DE @thehazelsister That's not something that usually happens in the US. After the kid reaches 18, most of them get a job, find their own place to live and move away from their parents.

DE You could offer to move out and let him pay all the bills himself. That's what happens in US households. Of course, then you'd be paying all the bills somewhere else, though.
