How do you make a lot of friends in just a day?

I just resumed college after 6 years of "hibernation" (so that would put me about 24 years old now)and students now are somewhat different to handle with compared to my time. Any advices from both clans?

Are we just really sleeping? I mean the Matrix Trilogy could possibly be a way to explain our reality. Some alien machine could've just put us into a dream machine, one that which our destiny can be partly controlled by our own...
