sedel1027 I have tried selling stuff on Amazon and that has worked okay. What are you trying to sell? I know Half.com (they are owned by ebay) works great for books, CDs, and DVDs.

makelifehappy I have had some luck with entrecard & blogcatalog - both brought me about 50 new readers last month! It also helps to go onto different blogging forums and promote your blog. I am thinking of running some contests also soon.

chunter I can say that a lot of widgets put on one's blog hardly helped to increase traffic...So don't really bother too much about widgets....But, they do make your site look good... It only helps when the widgets with a link to your site is on OTHER blogs...

makelifehappy I would go with blog.sitename.com but that's just me - that way your urls will be shorter and have the blog titles in the link like blog.sitename.com/articletitle that's a lot cleaner than www.sitename.com/blog/articletitle good luck with your new blog!
