Kelian Thanks for your answer. He does that sometimes and it really does work. He doesn't do it for days though, just one night. I'll tell him to try it for several nights.

Kelian Thanks. I thought of these too. We usually use fresh garlic. I did suggest the spicy foods but he doesn’t like pepper.

Would you want to hike right up to the mouth of the volcano and look in for yourself? There are gases around the volcano so I think a gas mask would be good, especially if you have asthma.
