LLCoolJonas you can try to gets invites on private trackers like iptorrents and torrent-damage, there are lot of those around the net you can just google them. why private torrents? simply because they have maintaining ratio for DL:UL so members keep the torrents alive...

LLCoolJonas you can try using chrome + IDM(internet download manager) there is an option IDM to integrate to any browser and while you try to stream a video a IDM download option will pupup on the upper right part of the video. hope this helps you, also if try to search...

LLCoolJonas are they on both running on win7? if they are make sure that they are both on the same homegroup. and then just browse to the file or folder you want to share, right click on it then highlight "share with " and click on homegroup

LLCoolJonas windows 7 is the better choice of the tow for sure. also for winxp programs the you need you can just run em on windows xp compatibility mode you access it by right clicking the program the go to propertiescompatibility tab.
