Lord_Unseen You can get the source and build it yourself right now. Unfortunately, Google has yet to announce when Chrome OS will be available to the public. Supposedly some OEMs are gonna start putting it in netbooks and tablets as early as next month.

Lord_Unseen Actually, at the moment, WebOS is one of the least proprietary mobile OSs out there. Palm, while they are keeping strictly on their hardware, are being very open with WebOS's underpinnings and letting people really do whatever they want with it.

Lord_Unseen Doesn't seem likely. If anyone is going to be private with an OS, it's HP. They've spent too many years under Microsoft's heal. They don't want to be just another Android device or just another Windows device, they want to have something that stands out....

Lord_Unseen Honestly, if there were china phones running WebOS, I wouldn't even hesitate in buying one. As it stands, I love my Palm Pre too much to trade it for a china phone running Android or some cut-rate OS.

Lord_Unseen Basically, though a lot of the good guys prefer the more innocuous penetration testing instead of hacking because the media hears the word "hacking" and automatically thinks really bad things (a lot of which isn't even possible)
