accioetoile Yes, it is true. TR actually was basically forced to come out, because of Isaiah Washington, who plays Dr Burke on the show. He said a slur against him, which forced TR to come out when reports reached the media of what had happened on set.

accioetoile The third season is the one currently on TV. It should come out on DVD sometime before the 4th season starts, but that won't be until August or September.
