merrydew Sure. I'm quite a China fan, as you might have guessed. I visited Beijing, Xian, Guangzhou, Shanghai, Suzhou and Hangzhou. It was a trip of a lifetime for me.

merrydew I've been to China, and I just love the historical buildings, such as in the Forbidden City, Summer Palace, temples, shrines, great wall, etc. I also like Zhang Yimou & Chen Kaige movies, Gong Li, and Chinese food.

bellaofchaos Merrydew I thank you so very much for your response. I think that there are some situations that you just can't control like the economy. Where I live the jobs are limited and even if both people work the type of jobs offered here it's hard to make ends meat....

merrydew Thanks. I don't think anyone should feel guilty about accepting welfare, provided they're unable to work or there is no job available that covers their basic cost of living. That's a failure of the system, and it seems fair that the government helps them out...

merrydew I have a Total Gym, as advertised by Chunk Norris and Christie Brinkley, and use it for about 20 minutes every day. Not much, but it's sustainable. It's not cardio-vascular, but it's something. So far it's kept me from going completely to pot (-bellied).
