carnival i dont use any firewall program and i dont think you need one with avast, avast have many real time shields, file system shield, mail shield, web shield, p2p shield, instant messaging shield, network shield, script shield, script shield, and behavior shield....

carnival i used avast for 2 years now and i would highly recommend it to you, its free and it will block any malicious be it sites or programs.

carnival why dont you change to firefox or chrome? as for antivirus, i would recommend avast free antivirus. for a free antivirus, avast do its job real good, it blocked any malicious sites or program before they infected your computer, avast also update its virus...

carnival you should ask an IT specialist on why your hard disk freeze, there are many possibilities why it freeze. the sooner you do that the better, because if you keep pulling the plug like that, there is a chance another part on your laptop could break.

carnival if you are still getting ads, try removing cashgopher, last time i installed it. my avast gave me warning, it says that this program is associated with adware.
