Should our government tax us less on income than on sales tax?

Here is the dilemma, and if we could vote on it? Facing the current economy, although we are on the gradual recovery, should our government tax less on our income tax, and more on sales tax? Or vice versa, tax more on our income...

chardonnay_nz Government do need income to finance the public services. If they tax more on income tax, it can bridge the gap between poor and rich but this can only be done through lower tax rates or some exemption for low income earners and higher tax rate for high income...
