Davidarich That compatibility depends on whether the camera has the focus motor in the body or not. Old Canon lenses are also compatible with current bodies and there are more of them. The greatest compatibility is found in the Pentax line. The image processing question...

Davidarich By the way, you may be better off cloning the date out. The Gimp can do that easily, so can Photoshop and PhotoPlus, which were mentioned by others, but Paint cannot, nor can Irfanview, and you already own The Gimp. Open the Clone tool From the image menu...

Davidarich There is nothing wrong with Sony Cybershot cameras, but the Canon IXUS series offers better than average photo quality in a very stylish package - it would be my choice between these two.

Davidarich Nope... if you take enough photos, some will certainly turn out well. But thew best photo from the best phone camera is useless for anything except the most basic viewing. It can't be printed bigger than postcard (most won't be any good bigger than wallet...

Davidarich I have a 50D, and I cannot fault it. It is a joy to use and the results are stunning. On the other hand, if you are not tied to a particular brand (I own a lot of lenses, flash gumns and other accessories that only work with Canon cameras) then the Nikon D300...

Davidarich Emulating other forms of art is part of learning; but photography is NOT painting. It has its own rhythms an subtleties and qualities; art is about originality, and surprise, and discovery and exposing one's self and others to new meanings and experiences.
