How does the star rating work here on Mylot?

I've noticed that some have colored stars next to their names with a number in it. What does this signify? And how does it work? I haven't found an explanation for it on the mylot help area.

dire_angel I'm not so sure... It's so very easy to fake these photographs. Just have a photoshop in your computer and you can create any kind of ghost you want to appear in the picture. However, I've seen pictures which professionals claim to be unedited so maybe ghosts...
