hektorjr if you want the laptop to have internet connection then you will need a router to share the internet connection with the desktop. You dont need a new modem just get the wireless router connect the ethernet cable to the router and then run another ethernet...

hektorjr I dont think i would buy vista just yet for the simple reason that it is a brand new os and i am pretty sure they are going to have some bugs still to work out
