Bamboo do you have any in your yard

I was wondering if anyone has bamboo in their yard? I live in Ohio and I do know there are some cold types of bamboo. The reason I would like to plant it is to block out my neighbors. Any thoughts or tips?

ocularium I'll have to ask my parents as I don't remember if we even planted the bamboo or if it came from a neighbor's yard or what. If we did plant it, I know it would have been in our fountain area, not in the yard, but that's where it wound up. We never did anything...

How do you get your children to eat veggies?

I have twin 9 year olds, and it seems as though it is getting harder and harder to get them to eat their vegetables. We try to have a salad every night, and they manage to get that down...but what can we do to get more vitamins...

Easter Lilies and Hyacinths.. anybody have some?

I bought several hyacinths and an Easter Lily before Easter but I don't have a green thumb with plants. My mother could get anything to grow but that ability skipped me. Does anybody have any tips for me to keep them going?

Do you hate mosquitoes? This is one of the solution

I have Rosemary plant, people said that mosquitoes hate this plant, so you can prevent the house from mosquitoes. But I think it will not function if we only have one:( Still need help from aerosol spray;)) and mosquitoes...

ocularium as to where to buy citronella...it depends where you live and what nurseries/stores are near you. In NJ, I knew of a few places that sold the plant. Now I'm in FL, but I don't recall seeing any in the local nurseries/Lowes/Home Depot, etc. It's not...

ocularium thanks for your reply...I see now, it's kind of like geocaching (well, loosely like geocaching) but with books. I looked at the website and it seems like fun. There are actually some 'wild' books in my town...I might have to give it a try!

ocularium interesting that you liked "a place called freedom" by Ken Follett...the idea was good, but I think I was comparing his writing to that of Pillars of the Earth and thought it was horrible. Maybe if I read 'place called freedom' first I would have liked it!

What have you got growing in your vegetable patch?

My rhubarb is putting on some decent growth, and my chives are poking up as well. Otherwise, not a lot is going on in the open areas. What about your plot, and where are you located?

ocularium the lime tree, which is pretty tall and established, has not had a bloom on it ever. I have put citrus fertilizer on it (to help force it to bloom) and still nothing. I don't knw what's wrong with it. The little sickly tangerine tree that we bought for $25,...

ocularium we have an older lime tree (there when we bought the house) but it still hasn't produced any fruit; I don't know what's going on with it. The tangerine tree we bought at 1/2 price (it was sickly) but my landscaping friend said we could save it. Citrus trees...

ocularium We haven't had a chance to make a day of hiking--we plan to soon, though. The park and grabs are definitely interesting -- they require stealth and you have to not get easily embarrassed or daunted. My husband is not so good at those. He draws more attention...
