We're thinking of giving illegal immigrants some of the rebate money?

My understanding of the refund is that it will be given to those people who have paid taxes. I think it would only be fair to those who pay taxes to receive the refund.

Well that just figures... I won't be getting a government loan to spend on Chinese products at Wallmart because I didn't file taxes last year. So I guess some ILLEGAL immigrant will get mine instead.

I agree, it would be wrong, but again I have to ask the Question, if there was no work for these illegals then they would not come, the famous buck has to stop some where, and if it is difficult to impossible to get work, register for medical, schooling, and all the other services,that are provided for a citizen, would they still come. I think not, so it has to start with going back to basics and make the milk sour so that the baby can not feed.

I think that only people working that have paid tax should get a tax rebate. Is the American government allowing the illegal immigrants to work? I thought that all Americans have to pay high medical and dental bills. It isn't right if illegal immigrants are getting this for free. In Europe illegal immigrants go over from Libya and make for an Italian island. Then they are taken by authorities to mainland Italy. Some stay there others escape and go to other European countries. The unlucky ones are caught and are taken to Malta where they are put in a detention center for two years. Then it is tax payers money that keeps them as they are not sent back where they came from. Spain has got tougher and sends illegal immigrants back if they can. They also have a high tech way of catching the illegal immigrants coming over.

We give them free medical, we give them lots of other free things that I do not get I am with you we they should not get the tax rebate check. Chances are they do not pay taxes legally like you and I do so why should they get money. How would the govenment know they are here to make the checks out to them?

Well, if they have a right to be here, and are working here in the United States, I see nothing wrong with them getting a refund. Most of them are living here on Visa's working and just waiting until they have been here long enough to become a US Citizen. For you to want to deny them would be wrong, unless it was someone who had just come here from their country like this yr. and is given the rebate. Because from what I understand, if you do not file a Tax Return you are not eligible for the Tax Rebate Check.

This is becoming a problem in several countries now, governments are not only giving special treatment to immigrants but even extending it to those who are residing illegally. I have never been racist and welcome other nationals into the country if they are intending to work and play their part in society, but there are systems in place that control to number and selection of immigrants. It is ridiculous that someone can circumvent the system and gain illegal access then be offered benefits by courtousy of the taxes that other people have paid.

this is getting way out of hand! and they shouldnt get a tax ID at all when they are illegal!. we had a rant on new channel here and they asked was the seniors on SS to get a rebate too. I dont think they will it will go to the illeagles yup! and like it said the money dont stay here it goes to the home country of these people! grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr Just am hoping that the senete and the house vetos this one!

This is another example of the absolute insanity of our government. Right now this rebate is leaving our senior citizens, who are struggling to survive on social security, out in the cold. Yet the government wants to give money illegals (criminals) just makes me sick! The money would not help our economy but, as we all know, be sent out of the country!!!!

They don't..I get so angry about these illegals. they have never paid out one penny to this coutry and they come here and we treat them like Royality..They get better treatment than we do and we have been here all of our life..They come here because they know we are a pushover..We would do better if we were illegal that a part of this country...It just makes me angry...

NO!No!No! On the other hand if they work and pay taxes here I just as a taxpayer they qualify for the rebate. But I am really against illegals getting any benefits because there are a lot of legal aliens who dont get the extras. By the way has anybody realized that the rebates are really just a loan against your refund? If a taxpayer doesn't get enough of a refund he will have to pay it back on the April 15 2009.

Ok, I don't know what Government official is passing around the laced pot for everyone to smoke but this is insane. They have broken the law to come here, are living in this country illegally, most if not all are not paying into the system, they are running up more debt for us by using our resources (financial aid, schools, doctors, hospitals) and now we're going to PAY them for it!?! screw that.they want a check,become legal. on the one hand,i do feel bad for them in a way,but they did come here illegally.

We are being told the rebates are not for bills or for saving, because they want the money in the economy, so this does not make sense. Most illegal immigrants send all the money they can back to their family.

It is just so sad the way the goverment thinks we should take care of these people

Just the fact that they are 'illegal' should be enough said, why on earth should we pay them to break the law while there are millions of people trying to get into the country legally that aren't allowed for one reason or another.

I have to agree with you, why would they get a rebate check when they don't even pay anything into the tax system. I believe they get plenty of help in my opinion. If they want to get a check, then they should have to pay in taxes. Maybe I am wrong and they do pay taxes, but it has always been my understanding that they don't.
