Do you plan to read more this year?

I've been making goals at the start of each new year for as long as I can remember. On this list, "reading more" always seems to land in the top ten. And, like every other year, this year is no exception. I've started this year differently, though . . . I'm actually following through! I love to read, but I find that if it doesn't have anything to do with work, that I don't deserve to spend the time . . . I know, it's a strange situation. Do you plan to read more this year? How often do you make this goal, but have a difficult time following through? If you don't face this issue, what do you recommend for those who are?

Yes, I do plan to read more this year. Mainly because I love to read, and I feel that I did read enough last year.

I hope to. I have a list of books I would like to get. So far I have read one. I am also reading a five novel book of Bram Stoker including Dracula and four others. These are complete just as he wrote them in the late 1800's and a little hard to read because of the style and the way people talked during those times. I've finished Dracula and moved on to a little light reading of "Marley and Me".

I'm a bookaholic. I'll go throught stints that I read a new book everday or sometimes 2 a day. I have five kids and it's not an easy task but you have to set some alone time for your self to be able to relax reading to me is relaxing and I love it so I have no goal to increase it because I read alot as is and I don't have a difficult time with it currently .. But for those who do if you're a female when you go to take a shower decide to take a bath instead and while your soaking set your cell phone to go off in 15 minutes to 30 minutes depending on how long you want to soak and read .. When the alarm goes off wash up and get out and there you spent time reading and giving those nice muscles a good warm to hot soak.

I love reading books, but books which are not related to work. Reading makes me relax and imagine that I am in the story which I am reading. My best books are love stories and adveture ones, well I hate others. However it is good to read some current affairs or finanical things for knowledge. But to relax I prefer reading a story, well this year I will to try to read since it has been a long time since I last read a book, because I don't have that much to read.

I absolutely love to read, finding time has become harder and harder, I try to give myself one hour a night after I get the kids to sleep. I figure if I can get a book done in a wk right now I am doing well...LOL I need to learn to read faster but that is my only escape is into a book, my only vacation time right now so I sit back and enjoy when I can....LOL

I have two favorite hobbies besides my computer they are reading and knitting. Right now I am knitting one of my grandaughters a coat if I take a break from that I read. I have 4 grandaughters and they all want one of the coats - I am on my second one so it will be a while before I can get back to my full time reading hobby. As for reading I like all kinds of books - one of my favorite authors is Sue Grafton.

One of my year 2009 resolutions is actually to read more non-fiction books. I feel that I need to do that and I also need to learn how to read faster. I'm not into fictions since I feel I need all the knowledge and lessons I can obtain from non-fictions, as much as possible, in order to improve myself. It's a kind of self-improvement and my supervisors actually compliment me for that.

I have to read more, or exactly more learning this year. Now my job is not concerned with my major, so I have to learn everything from zero, last year it is a real hard year for me. I like reading in my life, in my spare time, I just reading no matter the real books or in the internet, both are ok. Reading more, learning more. *^_^*

I think that reading should b #1 on your list of priorities. I say start off with reading about something that you enjoy doing eg:- food, clothing, cars, etc. There are lots of attractive magazines, books, pamplets, the internet.Comics(wether in the newspapers or comic books)are a nice and exciting way to begin reading. Don't despair if you start off slow...take it 1 step at a time.

I have a disability which makes it hard for me to hold and read a book, and turn pages. I just got an Amazon Kindle as a gift, so I plan to try to read more now that I have that.

Actually I finished a book that I started last year (The third secret) and already this year read the least 2 books in the Maximum Ride series by James Patterson. If you are a Harry Potter Fan, I would definitely recommend this series. This is also for the Sci-Fi fans, the books are target to kids but they are great. It is a sotry about some kids who have been genetically modified using recombinant DNA to be part bird.

I never plan on my reading. I just go with what I am in the mood for at the time. I love reading but have to have the time to sit down as once I get started on a book, I will read it in a day or two.

I have good intentions when it comes to reading. I love to read and I've done lots of book interviews. I have loads of books to read that I haven't even opened! I need to get busy and start reading! But I've been too busy on my blog, web site, and here at mylot and other writing places. Maybe I'll get started reading again very soon.

Since reading is a huge part of my job, you bet I will. Not to name any specific books as I'll go with my kids to the library or will read various children books to them. They love it, especially the interactive style books. The type that you have to ask them questions, and they have to figure out the answer by looking at the pictures in the book. Shocking to me, the last time we went the library, about two weeks ago, my 2 year old daughter answered one before her older brother and sister did. That truly amazed me. Anyway, regarding my job, it requires me to read, reread, and read some more to ensure that all of the information that is being distributed is correct, as it is very important that all I's are dotted and all T's are crossed as per our CEO's instructions and our HR guidelines. Some times it can be tedious work, but often it will be very monotonous, and satisfying to know that information provided to the public was a sole representation of the excellence that I have been trained to operate in.
