Ever Delete A Mylot Friend?

I'm wondering if anyone has every deleted any of their Mylot friends from their friend's list? Not just because of no responses but mostly because they annoyed you too much. I'm thinking about deleting a "friend" because of the way they respond to responses to their own discussions. Seems no matter how people respond to their discussions this person finds a way to be nasty or negative.

Hi Shar, Yes, going by the reason you mention, I did remove one of my friends. This friend never responded to any of my discussions and NO this was NOT the reason for removing. The reason was that for a couple of days he just kept on posting anything he came across and that prevented me from easy access of many of my friends discussions... Imaging someone posting 12-13 discussions everytime he logged in... I doubt this user could survive for long here as he never responded to anything

I know of a few people like that too. It can be very annoying.

I crossed a "discussion bomber" too : they are annoying, but you can filter your notifications. I have a directory called "Olympics" ready for the next one.

Yes, I have. I believe others have as well. Often the people I delete probably are going to leave anyway, because they violate many of the guidelines. If a person is making negative responses I would rate them with a -, and if it is really bad I will report it as abuse. MyLot is a congenial community and does not need to have people being mean and hateful.

I don't know if this person is violating guidelines but it's just exhausting responding to their discussions. Kind of like walking on eggshells deciding what to write to them. No matter what anyone writes they feel offended or attacked by everyone who comments on their discussion.

That is bound to be exhausting. I still would mark them negative if they are having a negative effect on the community.

The only reason I've ever deleted anyone is because they sent me a referral link when my profile specifically tells people not to spam me with referral links. If they annoy me, I'll turn off notifications for a couple of weeks or just ignore the notifications of their discussions. I prefer to avoid negative people. It's tough enough to stay positive without voluntarily exposing oneself to negativity.

I just now deleted a "friend". Someone who'd made 16 posts blatantly posted a referral link to a known scam. Someone told them it was against the rules, to which they replied they were here to make money and posting referral links was the way to do it.

Smart idea. I try to avoid the negative too.

You can turn him off for awhile and then see if you still want to delete him.

I have not deleted anyone as it really does not bother me to have them there. The majority of my almost 600 friends requested me, so I figure if they leave and or delete me it would be a choice. I do not see any harm in deleting anyone, after all I do interact with a great many of others that are not in my friends list to keep me busy enough not to worry about who is responding to who. I would actually feel cruel to delete, maybe it is silly of me. But the way I see it is although I do interact quite a bit with almost all that do start discussions there are times that I can't interact as I do not know certain areas being discuss and I refuse to respond rubbish simply to input. Besides we all know who friend are and we do not necessarily have to interact via discussions. I have several who interact with via pm and we have never interacted through discussions. I also have very dear myLotter which I interact consistently for 9 months now ans we are not on friend list. So for me I do not take the "list" too seriously.

I guess a better thing to do would be just to turn off the notify. That way I don't have to deal with the nonsense.

I have deleted a friend but not because of their responses...because of their lack of responding....not just to me but some are fly by nights who want you for a friend....two months later they have only a 20 next to their name which means they have no intent of being active....But I wouldn't blame you if you did delete them for being nasty!

Hello Shar. Yes i have deleted people here, and i have been deleted myself a couple of times, probably in the periods when i wasn't able to be very active. As for reasoning for deletion, i can include here, requests through private messages for referral links, inactivity for over 2 months or more, or other reasoning - lack of interaction because of totally different interests can be one as well i suppose.

I never deleted anyone for your reason but I deleted people that haven't been active in a couple of month. It's up to you though...if you don't like what they saying then delete them but that's what mylot is all about {Getting other peoples opinions, you don't have to like them it's just their way of responding}

I've never deleted anyone but now I think I may for the people that aren't active or have zero posts. Thanks for the idea. As for the person I was talking about I think I'll just turn off their notification for a while. I know it's true what you're saying about everyone giving their opinion here and that's great but it's hard to discuss things with someone when they make it difficult to do so.

Hi. Shar19. I have deleted up to 4 people. It should not be anymore than that though.. I just hope that I am not the person that you are referring to though. I hope that I am not classified as being nasty and negative. I am not perfect, but it would be quite a shame for someone to see me as that way. To the person that you are talking about, I feel so bad for them.

Hi Bunnybon! You're one of my good friends here. It's pretty bad when every time I respond to a discussion of their's, it has to be like walking on eggshells.

Hi Shar, The only time I deleted a friend was when I approved a friend request and a few seconds after that member sent me a referral link to some earning sites. It never happened again so I haven't deleted any friend after that.

I have never deleted any of my friends here. I have however un-ticked a few of them from my email notify list after they started discussion after discussion that was extremely similar to the last one and the last one before that. And the same for those who never respond to their discussions. I see no point in answering someone's question if they are not wanting to discuss it.
