I think you should grab any opportunity that comes your wsy. if they offer a low salary, just take it for now. Being a new graduate you need to gain a lot of experience before you can get jobs that offer real high salaries.

This depends on the needs of you and your family. Sometimes we have to make sacrifices. A bad job with a good salary is best when you need to keep up on bills, build your savings, and support a family. A good job with a low salary is good for someone with fewer financial obligations. A low salary is relative to one's idea of a well paying salary. This idea is influenced by opinion as well as one's average earnings throughout his or her work history as well as cost of living.

I agree that for some the job can be more important than the salary. It depends on what one is having to choose. If one has the opportunity to take a job and he or she does not have salary as an issue, then the job can be chosen based on enjoyment. There are factors in one's life that determine the choices he or she makes with such a decision.

Wow. It's really hard to find a job that gives great compensation. Because you are not the only one fighting for a job. There is much competition going around and you have to be aware of that. You can't decline a job opportunity just because of the salary. Are you sure you'll get another shot at getting the kind of job with a higher salary? Grab the opportunity but see to it that the compensation is reasonable. Then hopefully, I pray that it will increase over time.

There are people who rejects highly paid jobs and go for their dream jobs. For them work is important tan salary.Mostly services n all are such kind of works.Teaching,in the field of medical services etc are such fields. And for artists and sportspersons they enjoy their job for which they get higher rewards.

There is no comparison of both, if someone tell you he has a good job, it also meant that he is getting pay well in salary. All bad jobs pay poorly and come with small salary with no benefits. In today work place, you can not find a bad job with high salary, every high salary job is good job. There is nothing for me to choose, if i am having a good job, it meants i have a high paying job. hahaha....

Require overtime is a very good job, my friend, provided the employer pay you overtime as demanded by the labor law, you can become rich sooner with many hours of overtime. Night shift worker is supposed to be paid higher than day shift, if not, the job is not good at all. Then you should quit immediately after land yourself a day time job or one that pay more for the night shift, let the God damb manager has the night shift job with below average pay without giving him any noticebefore you leave. hahaha....

Yeah. But there are also some jobs that require overtime and night shift which are very tiring. Even though it offers high compensation, some may not want a job like that. It is unhealthy. Now, is that a good job?

Overtime pay is good but you will get tired by it. Hopefully I can cope up with the stress and pressure. I hope there is higher rate for rendering overtime.

If you come to think of it, salary comes first. It's the usual answer. It's the most common one and it's the first thing that comes to mind. The reason why most of us work is because of our financial goals. It's seldom, especially in our country where most are underpaid, even professionals at that, would look for a job because of the convenience alone. Job seekers have money and salary as the priority before career advancement and job description. Unlike in other countries, especially the richer ones, most people there would look for a job because they want to work with certain people, they want to be a part of a particular company and they want the kind of job that a place offers, because more often than not, compensation is well established. It's a given. Anyway, if it were me, I'd still look for a job where the job allows me to grow as a professional and individual, and with great compensation plan for employees.

Yeah. As of now, it's really hard to get a job with both benefits. I was offered a job with high compensation but the job isn't related to my interests. I was offered a job too with related interests but with low salary. Which do I choose? That's why I made this discussion to see different views of people.

Here's my question for you. At this moment in your life, what do you need most? Are you well off or financially stable enough that you would opt for a job that you would love to be in, or do you badly need financial support for your everyday living? Whichever weighs a lot more, then I guess, that's your answer. Still, in my own personal experience, I would still like to see myself in a job that interests me, where my passion lies and pays just enough than be in a company that pays so much but wouldn't really see myself loving the job. This is just me. A lot of people might disagree but that's just my take on the discussion.

I want both but I have to weight the most important. I hope that the compensation will increase when the time comes. I have a job that I am already wanting to accept but the offer is really small. But I have to prove that I am worth more than the present salary. Hopefully in time it will increase. Thanks.

For people who have something to fall back-- work is important. For those who depend on salary income for day to day living --salary is important. For me now after retirement-- work is important.

It's so hard to decide if you want the money or job. How can you work if you don't like the job? even though it offers high compensation. For me and for my family, salary is important because we need the money. Hopefully when the time comes, my salary will increase and this will be enough to support the family.

It is common for people to be under employed. Some may be doing a lower level job though they are qualified. But they have to do the job because they need money for shelter, food and clothing.

When we first apply for a job, the very first thing that we take into consideration is the salary. But it is also equally important that we like the job that we are doing.

Yeah. Thanks for the advice. The job offer does relate to my field of specialization. But I thought the compensation isn't sufficient enough. I still have to decide if it will incur to my expenses. Well, if not, I still have to ask for my parents' money if I need additional funds.

It's my first job and it's making me second guess. I don't want to ask from my parents money for the expenses again. I am also living here in a new place so I need also to consider rent expenses. That's why it's so hard for me to make a decision to take the job or not. I am also a fresh graduate so I can't really expect a high salary.
What is your advice?

If that is the case, perhaps you have to consider other factors such as the expenses you will have to incur during your stay in the place. If you think that would be sufficient and the job will certainly help you in developing your potential, then go for it. Does the job offer related to your field of specialization? You are still young and you still have a long way to go. Just be sure before you accept the job. It would not be very good if you keep on transferring from one job to another.

I hope my salary is high and my job is my hobby, and if I were to choose one, that would be salary coz I need it to survive. I don't think I can stay to a job that is bad and salary is low, a job where salary is low but the environment is good either. Although some companies offer you good salary, the environment is bad, I will resign immediately whereas some companies with average work will make me stay longer.

Yeah. Life is pretty hard. You want to expect a high salary because there are many people you are supporting. You are saving for your future. A combination of both job and salary is hard to find. I would find something that's negotiable, a job that you want but offers reasonable salary.

Good salary? :) Do we ever have that limit? lol
Never mind, I am the kind if that "low" salary is enough for sustenance, I would pick that job otherwise, I would tilt towards "good" salary job. Once the low salary job allows me adequate experience, job satisfaction, greater interest in job and movement up the ladder, I would jump to another job that paid better and held similar career path for me. :) But sustenance is crucial..so if Low salary is not good enough, I wont take that job.

Yeah. Thanks for the advice. You should consider the low salary to be reasonable enough. Can it deal with your expenses? Is it sustainable? You should ask these questions to yourself. Once I can gain enough experience then I'll aspire for a higher salary. I hope and pray for a better future.

tricky question ,as always, all love salary and me too, and no one will offer us salary without work , so have to prefer both, work satisfaction is also very important , without which we cant work even if they pay high /good salary, it depends in which situation i am, if i need more money and with low bank balance i may prefer good salary for some time, to increase my bank balance and choose the not so good job, but if have good bank balance from before then i choose good job with low salary.

Thanks for your insights. I am about to choose a reasonable salary with the job I want. But the expenses here are very many, I think I am able to save only a little for this salary. I am still confuse. But hopefully it increases through time. I am really hoping for that. Be positive.

Firstly, do, give and prove your best. Then only you have the right to ask for the right salary. Never ask for the pay or rise or even a promotion before your prove your best. You can leave if you think your employer is still undervalue your capabilities after that.

A job with a good salary is tempting in every way, at least initially. When choosing a job I think it is important to ask yourself if this is something you will still be enjoying 10 years later, or even more. The thing is that you are going to spend most of your waking hours in that job, so it is important to enjoy it. If the salary is too low to live on then I would not recommend that either because no matter how much you enjoy it you will get bitter in the end.
It is unfortunate and unfair that in many cases jobs in the caring professions are badly paid.

Yeah. I have noticed that. That's why I am very careful not to get underpaid. I am a fresh graduate but I am aspiring for a better salary because I am going to get my own room. I don't want my parents to support my expenses again. Hopefully I can get a job with high salary. So that I can provide a better life for my parents. Both of them also are almost retiring.

It depends on your needs but most of the time work doesn't matter as long as the salary is good. In our country, you can find different good job but the salary very low. If you work abroad, you will wondering why people still like to work in a place where the job is hard compared to their previous job in the Philippines. This means salary matters to them.

Enjoying your job is important but you can tolerate a lot in life. With the economy at an all time low the salary is the top most interest your should have right now. At least you are making good money and hopefully have benefits. While doing what you don't like you can always look for something you might like better without having to be on the unemployment line.

Insurance companies for the most part have call centers within the company. I know that they pay pretty good and the job is diversified. The people hired actually do more than just answer the phone, take messages and transfer calls. They work on billing, reports and gathering information for claims too.
Just an idea, not sure of the typical type of call centers.

Salary ofcourse. You work because you want to earn money. It's not that you work just for free, right? That's my highest priority because that is the one who supports me and my family. Before, I had two choices to make, it's either to work in a bank or be an online teacher at home. I chose to be an online teacher. Why? Because it has a better pay than being a teller in a bank. Yes, the office in the bank is air-conditioned and you wear some corporate attire but what about the salary? It's just low. I'm not saying bad against a banker or someone who works in a bank. This is just based on my experience. I chose to be an online teacher because the pay is high and I work per hour and I can limit the time of my work. :D

Yeah. Thank you for your insights. It does sound good if you're working at home just chilling and you can control your time. Tellers in banks have really low salary and it's better to find something else. But sometimes it's hard to find jobs if you have an expected salary in mind. You always expect something bigger and in the end you might find no jobs at all.

The two should always go hand in hand. At first, you'll get attracted with the amount of the salary you have been offered. But when the time comes that you are not enjoying your work anymore, you're just going to leave your company even though it's paying you a good salary. Now on the other hand, if you really love the work and that's what you really want to do everyday and makes you happy, but you are getting paid less, you also have the tendency to leave. Nobody wants to be overworked but underpaid. I guess it should be balanced. If you are enjoying your work, you're happy with the environment, and happy with with how you deal with your superiors and workers plus the factor that you are getting the right compensation, that's the dream job you're looking for. =)

Yeah. You made a great point. Rarely this happens, both salary and work are good to you. Eventually you want a job that offers the good in both. But first of, you must not choose your job because the competition is stiff. There are many applicants who are competiting with you for the job. If you get the call for the job, make sure you think about it and not let it slip from you. It's hard to find a job you know. I hope I can get close to a dream job that I always dreamed of.
