How Do You Eat Your Canned Corned Beef?

We always have a canned corned beef at home. Sometimes it’s imported like that one in the picture Libby ’s. But most of the time that local one Purefoods. It comes handy when we don’t feel like cooking or just like an easy and quick cooking. Usually, we would just open the corned beef, put it in a shallow bowl and top it with chopped onions. Delicious, partnered with rice! It's also delicious as filling to a sandwich. Sometimes, I just sauté it in garlic and onions and shredded cabbage so it would at least have a veggie with it. What about you guys, how do you like your canned corned beef eaten? By the way, I haven’t eaten yet a Heinz corned beef. Anyone who has tasted it, is it as delicious as Libby’s? Picture is from google

If we've got no choice, we open a can of corned beef for breakfast... we have to eat before going to work or else we'd spend more if we eat outside

That is true. It comes handy as it can be eaten as it is. It is a filling viand for rice. Do you eat it with rice or with bread?

@Dextoi You have the same thinking as my mother-in-law. Canned foods should be coked still. Well, to each his own. Canned goods are for those that are on remote places where there are no cooking utensils.

@SIMPLYD I'm actually more concerned about its sodium content. Certain brands of canned goods give me headache. Purefoods is an exception though. Really love their corned beef.

We don't have corned beef in Thailand, if there is, it's usually expensive because it's imported. I miss eating corned beef with potato

Indeed it is too fat. So, we eat it only when we don't have the energy to cook anymore. But it is delicious though.

@LadyDuck Well, one can eat it once in a blue moon to avoid the unhealthy thing it can give a person. Don't we all pay attention to what we eat as we get older?

I am not a fan of corn beef, but is a very convenient food - especially during the aftermath of a dangerous hurricane and there is no power for refrigeration and cooking purposes.

I know you will not. In India, cows are sacred. Well. it is not actually healthy because it is fatty of course since the meat of cows is interlayered with fats.

We seldom eat canned corned beef but when we do, I just saute it too in garlic and onions, sometimes we make it into sort of a soup with potatoes and cabbage. I sometimes make spaghetti out of it too instead of ground meat. I also tried making a corned beef spread, just mix the corned beef and mayo, some pepper/spices and your sandwich is good to go.

I will try your soup with that, potatoes and cabbage. At least there are veggies. Yes, sometimes it's what I put instead of ground beef in my spaghetti and it is so delicious. Though, corned beef would be so expensive.

I like canned corn beef. I always get mine in sale 3.50 - 3.99 a can. I like my corn beef with onions and Julian potatoes adding soy sauce with a splash of mirin, a sweet sauce. I love corn beef hash...mashing boiled potatoes with corn beef ...salt & pepper to taste, then fry in coconut oil and olive oil blend. I need rice which I add, brown rice, barley, lentils and black rice mix.
