My cup is full and running over. / myLot

Ebullient is the word I would select to indicate my mood as I sat in the bus this morning heading into town. I used my grumpy old man bus pass of course, so getting a free ride bolstered my positive, optimistic outlook on life. A girl possessed of a most dismal countenance and with greasy hair piled up atop her pasty looking face plonked a cup of coffee in front of me in what, until today, was my favourite café. The saucer was awash with spilled coffee but no sign of an apology or recognition that something was amiss. Her finger nails were filthy (yes, I notice these things even though I am not a woman) and I knew before sampling the murky beverage that it would taste like swamp water and I was not wrong. But I’m not going to let such a disheartening experience rob me of my equilibrium. I will not become as sour as the serving girl or her miserable potion. I’m alive and I love my life too much to let this kind of stuff spoil things for me.

Good for you. Onward and upward so one myLotter used to continually say. I'd forgotten about him but haven't seen him for ages. So many have disappeared.

What a miserable experience. I cannot stand to be presented with a cup of coffee with coffee spilled in the saucer.

@ladyduck This should be the first lesson in waitress school. In fact they should not even need to teach it - it’s obvious as are clean hands.

"I’m not going to let such a disheartening experience rob me of my equilibrium." -nice words. I am going to keep this in mind. These days there is so much toxicity and it is taking a toll on my health and peace of mind.

@xFiacre It's my mother. That's what makes it difficult to address. I am sometimes on the verge of exploding. But I don't want to hurt her feelings.
