In the midst of another typhoon + a hefty breakfast with my daughters

The girls and I are home because classes have been cancelled. We've received yellow and orange rainfall warnings via SMS from the government since last night. The typhoon is heading north westward and will be bringing in more rains and heavy winds in the next 2 or 3 days in large parts of Luzon island. I'm thankful to be living in this apartment building at times like this. We don't have to pump out floodwater from a basement (unlike in our provincial house), and we have a generator every time power comes off. I feel much safer here in the city where the facilities are much, much better. My husband is currently in Bangkok moderating and coaching students for the World Scholars Cup, an international debate competition. It seems that every time he's away for some days, typhoon comes. We woke up to massive rains and cold temperature. I prepared rice, bacon, smoked milkfish, and seaweed miso soup for breakfast. It's good to have soup for breakfast. We all had a good fill.

@almostoveryou i tried miso soup only once and i liked it too. i've been low a bit, distanced myself from a close family member but i think that's the best for me, for my inner piece.

@grenery8 our inner peace is more important than anything else i keep my distance from some family members, too -- for the very same reason. and, i've been feeling low myself. i don't know why a general feeling of sadness just suddenly envelopes me. i hope it's just part of perimenopause take care. i hope you find some things or circumstances that cheer you up.

I hope your husband is safe while the storms rage. So far Florida has been spared hurricane damage. It's been annoyingly dry, until today when we got a lot of rain. More is expected tomorrow. Stay safe in your apartment, and glad classes were canceled.

I'm glad you've been spared. Florida is often battered by storms. We are expecting more rainfalls and typhoons until the end of the year. Poor urban planning and indiscriminate logging and mining have resulted to torrential flooding and displacement of people. I'm hoping that we can be more resilient than ever.

I haven't made arroz caldo in a long time. I should get the sticky rice variety soon and make that chicken porridge. Stay safe too.

Typhoon season appears to have just begun. In my opinion, there are a lot of typhoons during the year's final four months. According to the weather forecast, a lot of LPAs appear to be traveling in the direction of our nation. My only wish is that they would evaporate before they got to us, turning into monsoon rains that can fill up dams and provide a much-needed reservoir.

We definitely need a lot more catch basins for all the rainfall that we get every year. It's a political initiative that should benefit everyone, especially our rice and vegetable farmers. I'm not sure if we've gone past the El Nino-La Nina cusp. For sure, we will be experiencing massive rain dump until the end of the year. I feel safe here in our Pasig condo, but our house in Cavite gets occasionally badgered by the heavy rains. My husband goes there after every typhoon to pump out the floodwater in the basement.

Every single time there's a strong rain I had to be awake and prevent leaves from clogging the drainage seal hole.

My husband used to do the same when we were still staying in Cavite. He had to go up the roof and clean the drainage. Sometimes he would get ahead and clean it before the rains come. It's much better that way.

Oh, I'll have soup any day! Husband is back from Bangkok and brought home some goodies. We're expecting another storm early next week, so I'll have to restock the pantry by then and get as much meat that can fit into our small freezer.
