Some photos from our weekend away

We took photos of the horses and riders who were competing in a marathon event at the weekend. Most of the riders were entered just in the 16 km horse-ride but a few had already done an 11 km run, a 6 km paddle (canoe) and a 1 km swim. After the ride, they would do a 18 km bike ride.
The terrain is very hilly as you can see from some of the photos. The lass in the upper right photo regularly rides in endurance. In this event, the horse lost a shoe and the rider ran 3 kms, leading the horse, on the gravel section. Once she got to the paddocks, she was able to continue riding. Even with having to run some of the course, she was third over the line and only 32 seconds behind the fastest time.
Sometimes I put a photo in monochrome as it can make the horse and rider stand out better. And I like the photo of the horse half-hidden behind the tree.

@judyev Bottom right does make me not just admire horse and rider, but wonder where this horse is coming from, what’s going on out of sight. It’s like reading the opening paragraph of a well-written story and wanting to know what happens next. Leaves a lot of room for speculation and mystery.

Did you expect you would get back to photography? What a feeling that must be. Happy for you. .

That’s amazing to lead a horse without a shoe for three kilometers and still place third!!!!!
Love the photos, as always.

Love the photos. That's a great placing for having to run with the horse

I always enjoy the pictures of the horses and riders and the monochrome one really does stand out. Glad you had a nice weekend doing something fun.
