Bath or Shower, Which do you prefer?

I am sure lots of people like to take a bath. There are probably lots of folks that would prefer a shower. Which type are you? Why do you prefer one over the other? Personally, I prefer a shower, my reason is that I don't see how anyone can really get clean in a bath. Think about this. If you run the water into the tub, then get in the water and wash. Where does all the dirt that you just washed off of yourself go? Right into the water you are sitting in. And all that dirt sits right on top of the water, right? So when you get out of that water, the dirt comes out with you, at least some of it does because some of it sticks to you. If you want to get clean, take a shower. If you just want to relax, take a bath. If I wanted to relax and get clean, I would take a shower and then clean the tub out, and after doing that, then I would run my bath and relax in a clean tub with my now clean body. Does anyone else have any views on this?

I shower to get clean and fresh but definitely a bath to relax and spoil myself with lots of bubbles along with nice music.

A nice bubble bath is very good. The music is a great idea, also. Thank you for your response.

Oh bath, definitely. But then I work in a food factory and usually come home after a ten hour day smelling of vinegar and walnuts (don't ask). There's nothing like a long soak to get rid of any aching muscles... although I take your point about the dirt floating around in there with you. I get out clean, so I try not to think about that too much!

I know you said not to ask, but I just gotta ask. Why vinegar and walnuts? Try as I might, I can't come up with any recipe that I have ever seen that involved vinegar and walnuts. You are right about the long soak for sore muscles. Thank you for your response.

definitely prefer showers... and they're cheaper, more environmentally friendly(use about one fifth of the water a bath does) and you get cleaner without all the horrible dirt you've just gotten rid of getting back onto you. Baths are great for relaxing and sharing with friends!! ;-) but have a shower afterwards.

Hey, that is a great idea for relaxing and sharing with friends. The shower is a great idea for afterwards. Thank you for responding.

I use both methods! I have a bad shoulder so first I usually soak in the tub. Then once my muscles start to ease I open the drain and start the shower. Then I wash and rinse. Hygenic and relaxation all in one.

I prefer the shower. just the thought of sitting in a bathtub full of the dirt that was on my skin makes me feel sick. ugh!

I love showers just as much as i love to take a bath. It's so bad that i do both every night. I take a nice hot warm bath then after take a hot shower to make sure all of the dirt was washed off. I know i'm a little weird, but i've been taking showers and baths together every since i was 15.

What age are you now? I like the idea of doing both but time constraints make it difficult to do on a daily basis. What is your take on this?

I personally love to take a shower. A shower is so much better than a bath. I love to let the water sprinkle over me without me having to take the water in a mug and pour it over on my head. Infact a shower takes less time in comparison to having a bath. so shower it is

Hi finlander60, I much prefer a shower to a bath and agree with you that surely you get cleaner in the shower than sitting in water you have just washed yourself in! It's also alot quicker and if you have long hair its so much easier to wash it in the shower. I sometimes have a bath if I feel the need to relax or if I'm really really cold, but it's not very often!

LOL I watched a programme with this very subject on. Technically you get cleaner in a shower but you get dirt from the shower itself on you. And the minute you step outside the bath/shower you are covered in teeny tiny particles of poo n wee in the air if there is a toilet in there. Did you know every time you flush the loo, even with the seat down tiny particles are pushe out into the air? So imagine a bathroom where the loo is flushed with the seat up! Very disturbing! But in answer to your question I love a steaming hot bath with loads of smelly bubbles!

While I cannot disagree with you because your point is so well taken, I must say, I've never been inclined to think quite that way. I seriously doubt that those wee particles are just going to hang around in the air until I get done with taking my shower, however inclined in that direction they might be. My thought on this subject is that those wee particles are just a tad bit heavier than air. Thank you for sharing.

i prefer taking bath in shower when i am in a hurry otherwise i prefer taking bath with a bucket, a mug . reason for this is i can clean myself thoroughly taking care of head to foot. the other reason is that it saves water which usually get wasted in shower. we should conserve water and still we should be able to bath nicely. i dont mean that to say we should not take bath to save water but use water in a proper way.
i agree to you that taking bath in a tub can only be good for relaxing.

I definitely prefer to shower. I agree with the original poster's arguement for not taking baths. There's just this slow realisation when in a bath, that you are soaking in your own filth. Showers are so much quicker, and easier, and you don't turn into a prune in them ;)

Don't you just hate falling asleep in the bathtub and coming out cold and pruney? Now I have another reason to take a shower. Thank you.

I like showering--not because of the dirt issue some people mentioned with baths, but because I like the feel of the showerhead massaging my back. (My back tends to get achy a lot.)
