Why do people stare at me when i say, I am an Atheist?

I have passed many situation like this. People really ignore me/never mind my words when i proudly say them that i am an Atheist. Why do so?

thennarasugr try using Chrome dude.. Ii is really fetching data faster compared to other browsers and very well developed in suppressing the Java script errors...

thennarasugr umm.. I think you are an Agnostic... Don't mistake me dude.. Why should I keep low? Am I saying anything wrong...? I am just saying them what I Believe.. So I am not a non-believer too.. Definitely it is not the same..
