When we found ourselves raising two little boys, we came to a place when we knew they needed a dog at about the same time the hurricanes along the Gulf Coast made a lot of dogs homeless. We went to a shelter and let the boys pick...

Inklings My hubby grew up always having a dog. I never had a pet of any sort (my dad objected, my mom grew up on a farm and didn't view animals as house-pets, and I had a wicked fear of dogs). I outgrew the fear and we've had a dog (occasionally two) all throughout our...

Have you ever been on a bad diet, one that left you feeling run down or worse than before you started the diet? Has your health been affected by staying too long on a diet plan?
Describe the diet plan and what happened to your...

Inklings A few years ago, I tried that crazy cabbage soup diet. While I lost a few temporary pounds, I felt really drained and worn out after being on it for just a few days. The soup itself didn't taste bad, but it was still a foolish choice. I'm currently trying to...

I have a few food-related allergies, mushrooms, eggs, and cow's milk, but none of them is serious. If that were all I ate, I suppose I'd be in asthmatic trouble. But the worst is stuffiness, and that's livable. How about you? Are...

Inklings The only food allergy I have is to mushrooms, but it's not a life-threatening one. I just get horrible headaches from eating mushrooms, so I've learned to avoid them. I never had a problem in them until I was about 30, but then developed the sensitivity....

Is there one show you would watch all the time if you could? Maybe you do watch one now. If so, what is it?

What measures have you found work the best in disciplining your children? Do you ever use corporal punishment?

Inklings We never used corporal punishment. I think hitting a child is not only disrespectful, but it sends a message to the child that hitting is a way to solve problems.
From the time that they were very small, we talked to our kids and explained what we expected...

If someone gave you 1 million dollars and said you had to use it to create a business and the business had to benefit others while bringing in money..what type of business would you create? What would you call it?
I would open...

Inklings I would open up an affordable child care center that's open 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. All too often, people who work outside of the traditional Monday-Friday, nine-to-five have a hard time finding safe, dependable, affordable care for their children....

Here in Pennsylvania I think spring has finally won over and taken the front seat to old man winter! While I'm usually not all that excited to see my favorite time of year end, I have to agree that this 60+ degree weather with...

Do you think that many grand parents today are just "younger" acting, hence making them just seem like better grand parents then yesteryears?
There's such trends as vacations with the grandkids and things like that that prove...

I'm pretty easy going when it comes to accepting MyLot friends but there is nothing that annoys me worse then some idiot that requests to be a friend and then sends you instand spam. First off, do you honestly think I'm going to...

Inklings When we decided to trade in our gas guzzling SUV last year, we strongly considered getting a hybrid. What kept us from purchasing one was that at the time, the demand was far outweighing the supply, so prices were out of line. We ended up getting a regular...

Hot cocoa and hot apple cider have been my go-to drinks lately. I occassionally also enjoy a chai latte (though this is infrequent because of how expensive they are or how labor intensive it is to make one from scratch).
I'm...

Inklings There is nothing wrong with being gay, but there is a lot wrong with people who judge others. I'm glad to see that you seem intelligent and open-minded -- there are far too many people who choose to hate, rather than to accept that the world is filled with...

Do you "dip" certain foods that some might consider "odd"? My weirdest "dip" is McDonald's French Fries and chocolate shake! I love those 2 together!
What do you dip?
