MirandaKay It is painful and we know that. But it is such a small price to pay for good health. I have always been honest with my kids and tell them when it is time for vaccinations, I don't want them to be surprised when the nurse walks in with needles :)

MirandaKay That is great that you respect your parents decision to keep your vaccinations current. It really is for a good reason that we put our kids through getting poked with needles!

MirandaKay Everyone is free to make their own decisions concering their kids but sometimes they offer advice when it is not welcomed. Your kids safety is your responsibility and whatever action you decide to take should be respected.

MirandaKay We had an ant farm for a short period of time for a school project. I have never seen a magpie. We had a neighbor once that had a parrot on their porch and you could hear it all over the neighborhood.

MirandaKay Thankfully we have good medical insurance that pays for the vaccinations. But I understand that it would be difficult to afford them otherwise.

MirandaKay My kids get an annual flu shot but their doctor last year didn't feel it was super important to get the h1n1 shot. We had very few cases here. Luckily they never got the h1n1 flu even though they were not vaccinated against it.

MirandaKay From the best I can tell there are Amish shops there that are open to the general public. I wouldn't exactly call it a tourist community. My hubby's aunt lives near there and shops from them on occasion.
