beebriggs I love to make homemade apple pies. I do prefer to make a homemade crust, but often I find it easier to buy the ready made shells. Just peel the apples, add sugar and spice, bake and you have a great dessert. Nummy.

beebriggs Having raised 6 children you always had mending to do. You salvaged clothing by patching or sewing in a new zipper. In the summertime I would cut off the legs of the pants that the kids had outgrown and they would wear them as shorts.

beebriggs We have smoke alarms hardwired into the walls of our apartments. It is important to also replace the batteries in the units. The maintenance workers always change the batteries in ours.

beebriggs When my children were growing up there were no video games, computers or cable television. You played games for entertainment. Many hours were spent playing scrabble, monopoly or just a game of cards.

To save on water, try showering every other day. Take a sponge bath. It will save not only water, but your heating bills if you have to pay to heat your water.

I love the Etcha Sketch. I never owned one. Our family was poor. We would seek out other kids that had one and become their friends and get invited to their houses. Etcha Sketch heaven.

Do you use too much salt?

My son layers on the salt to his food before he eats it. You can actually see a layer of salt on it. I have tried to get him to stop without success. He is 23 years old and I am concerned about the health effects.
