fatling I would say that the ears are so cold because they have less blood flowing into them than other parts of the body do.

Mine is Elizabeth Peters, who writes the Amelia Peabody mysteries based in 19th century Egypt. Peters has a doctorate in Egyptology, so her experiences and education accurately go right into the storyline.
