Should I get a smaller, lighter laptop?

I use my laptop to take notes for classes. However, the one i have now is very bulky and heavy, and it hurts my back to carry in in my backpack for classes. Is it worth the extra $1,000 or so to get an new laptop?

Personally, I am not a big fan of the layout. I don't like how the info, hobbies, and pictures are not all on the same page, and that you have to click the little tabs at the top to show it.

jtrain351209 I think it would depend alot on the various circumstances. If its going to be a party with lots of nice food, and possibly people my age, then I would probably go. However, if its just a bunch of older people, I would probably make up an excuse.
