i find it abit weird that some parents dont mind being called by their names by their kids,i think this is wrong and disrespectful,its good to have your kids address you as dad or mom,as for relations its also good to address them...

mermac i think its more on how you say it, like, you can call them by their first name but say it like a friend but in the case of parents and elderly i believe it is a "have to" to call them by mom or dad or pop or mummy.
