Hi, everyone. Instant update time.
The other Louisville myLotter, @LooeyVill , is on a cruise right now, so she’s missing all the fun right now!
We just cleared a tornado warning here in Louisville.
As of right now (about 10:30 PM Louisville time), the local stations aren’t reporting significant damage in town. There are about 20,000 without power in town right now, according to the electric company’s website.
It was very windy for a few minutes, but it thankfully moved through quickly. The worst of the wind is past us.
We get to do it again on Wednesday!
The photo is me in my safe place, complete with my helmet for head protection, watching the severe coverage online.

It’s not that bad, just seems like it after a quiet year. There were bad tornadoes the day before the 1974 Super Outbreak, and the April 15 2011 outbreak was terrible, but it got eclipsed by the April 27 Super Outbreak (which was followed by the Joplin tornado in May 2011!).
Truth be told, I’d rather deal with this than what Myanmar is dealing with after the earthquake. At least we knew this was coming, like we know about Wednesday’s forecast.

The stories coming from Myanmar are heartbreaking.

Yes, we get to do it again on Wednesday, too. I am very glad to have our power back on. Some people not far from me still have an outage.
Glad you are safe, and that helmet just rocks, Karen!

The old lady in a bike helmet!
Funny story: we (the neighbors and I) were outside during Ike coming through. I was out there with my helmet on. I guess the smart thing would have been to GO IN THE HOUSE!

@MarieCoyle — yeah, I’ll let the storm chasers show me the storms while I’m safe inside.

I lived for a time in a very rural area in southern IL. We had no tornado sirens there then, they were too far away. You had the TV, until the power went out. Then you were on your own. So, most of us just went outside to watch...I recall one tornado on a stormy day, seeing it suddenly appear in the distance. I had the basement door open and the dogs on a leash hooked to my arm...we went to the basement as soon as I saw it coming. It made a lot of racket, but didn't come close to my house. We are lucky now to have all the warnings that we do!
And no, I don't stand on the porch anymore to look for them!

She couldn’t have timed it better! Although, she was in Orlando last night, and they had severe weather.

I’m sure there was some damage (one of the news stations showed half a garage roof missing), but haven’t heard anything about serious injuries or damage around here. So thankful!

Thank you. I can’t stand cold and sn*w because of the aches and pains it brings to my old body, but I’d take that back over this severe stuff.
And do know I pray for you every time I see Louisiana in the path of severe weather.

This spring is certainly doing it's best to upset everyone. I am glad you are safe.

There will probably be a lot of people in Punxsutawney to talk to that groundhog after this winter/spring!

Hmmm... they never mention helmets when they tell people to find a safe place during a storm. You're a smart cookie. Take care during the next one, too.

@FourWalls Makes sense, though, doesn't it? I don't have a helmet but I have a lot of hats...

It’s something that a number of meteorologists in “Tornado Alley” (Oklahoma) and “Dixie Alley” (the southern US where they have stronger tornadoes) preach.

I work in Louisville...My husband and I was actually driving through this storm in Southern Indiana to get home about this time. I heard that there was high winds or tornado going on about the Hurstbourne area.

The National Weather Service office is off the Gene Snyder Freeway close to I-65, and they took shelter. I live inside the loop so I was never in the warning.

Just another spring in the Ohio Valley. You deal with it every summer with hurricanes.

Most people are inside when storms hit, and the walls and roof come down on them. High wind is very scary.

Thank you.
I have a hard head for starters, but that just makes certain that the roof will be seriously damaged if it hits my head.

They’re talking about it being below normal and possible sn*w flurries next week. Plus, the wet weather this week is going to make the Great Lawn unusable for Thunder Over Louisville (which is a week early this year because of Easter).

Is it normal to go on a cruise to avoid the storms? Sounds great if you can afford it.
Hey, I hope you are safe. I mean, you haven’t even posted the #1 for ‘55 and ‘85. Things must be bad.
Do you have a cellar as your safe place? I don’t know what the guidance is, but the hat must be a good idea.
We have had severe storms here, but I’ve never seen a tornado, other than on the news. Stay safe! Have I said that already? If not, stay safe.
