Difference between "spake" and "spoke"

What is the difference between 'spake' and 'spoke'? If these two are in the past then why only use 'spoke' instead of using another one like 'spake' to make more complicated? Grammarian, it's up to you answer.

raphael09 I remember from one of articles that I've read.. that "spake" and "spoke" are both past tense of speak.. but the word "spake" is an OLD ENGLISH word that was used in literary poems and other old stories while the word "spoke" is used in MODERN ENGLISH .....

raphael09 It is clear that the bombers are Americans... because Hawkins who managed to infiltrate the terrorist group is an American citizen and so the other members of the group... In my own point of view, this group bombed their country to bring down the president..

raphael09 yeah we have the same thought... but one thing more... for me waffle is more convenient to eat.. because you don't have to use spoon or other utensils (you can use plastic) .. while the pancakes are usually placed on plates...
