Banners making my computer run slow

I have Cable internet and windows vista IE7 and every time I go to a website I have to wait for the banners to finish loading before I can even scroll down is there a way to fix this? Thanks

spider2007 Thanks downloaded Firefox and my computer is running as good as new I never had that problem with IE6 guess it's just something with IE7
