cwriter It sounds like a food allergy. I've heard of dextramathorphane causing hives like that as well as aspirin, strawberries, and things with nettle in it. Check if you've recently eaten something different.

cwriter I suggest removing the offending child from the tense situation. For example, if the child who is hitting happens to be in a playgroup, have them sit out for a while and explain that it is not okay to hit each other. Perhaps you can give the child another...
