KSharpe Yes, it is fair. It is not only for bonding but also for recovery. A woman's body needs to heal. There is also paternity leave, allowed by the Family Medical Leave act. Men do have the right to paid leave for family care, including a new baby.

KSharpe It is absolutely ok to breastfeed in public. Your child needs to eat, people do not need to look. If it was not ok, federal law would not say that it is, and we would not have been given breasts.

KSharpe Then I guess I'm in that 6% as well. My daughter is 23mos and I don't see her stopping anytime soon. She did take a brief break at 19mos, but started again at 21mos. My son will nurse as long as he wants as well.

I have a friends baby shower to go to in a month. Is it better to buy clothes, toys, etc... or just to give the mom a gift certificate somewhere to get stuff themselves

KSharpe I agree with the gift card. I know it's fun to shop for a baby, but sometimes specific things they want or need. If they are registered, get a gift card for that store. If not, get one for the store that will allow them the most variety.
