nilotpal_c I am surprised because it is firefox which has a much higher memory imprint and makes the system slow. Opera , in most systems loads much faster. If extensions are installed, Firefox really slows down.

nilotpal_c Ads are no longer built into the browser. Ads in Opera are a story long past. Opera is better than Firefox in most features like web standards compliance, security, speed, but Firefox beats Opera in Features that can be installed by extensions

nilotpal_c Thanks mate, I followed your suggestion and found 2 adwares/spywares. On deleting them, I could reclaim around 10% of my RAM . One of them was a keylogger. So, thanks really

nilotpal_c Well, if Opera takes longer than firefox to load on your computer, there must be something wrong with the settings. Opera is faster to load, I have all three on my desktop. However, if you want to know which browser starts the fastest, it must be k-meleon.

nilotpal_c I would agree with Doncris for the most part had I not had a horrible experience with Norton. Both Avira and AOL active virus shield do a better job than most paid programs, and Avast is almost as good
