EmethofCalormen I've given five or ten bucks to homeless guys before, but when possible, I prefer to take them somewhere and buy them a meal or necessities. I don't do it often, but it helps me make sure my money isn't going to booze or drugs.

rockandrolldad Personally, I kinda feel that it is rude to return a gift. My view is that a gift represents a piece of someone's heart. And as such, it should be valued and cherished. It would kinda be like not wanting a piece of their heart that they offered.
