Despite the weather turning for the worse today, I think I can safely say that I am ready to dance into spring. I seem not to be alone in expecting a new rhythm - everywhere we walk the daffodils are gently swaying in the breeze....

We had a broken tap, luckily not spraying water everywhere, but just a loud stream jetting into the sink. Landlady says no plumber needed, no problem, just buy new tap, is cheap. My son in law will put in. OK, sure, very easy....

How times have changed. The CEO of Kellogg's reckons that giving chicken the night off might be the best thing consumers can do to stretch the contents of their wallets.
He conveniently forgot to add the price of milk as well as...

I'm sure alcohol must have played a role here, nobody can be this daft and still be sober. This person, who was already a paraplegic, decided he had no use for his legs and hatched a plan to claim some much needed insurance money....

This morning when I woke up, I thought the train station had a glut of freight trains coming in. Turns out the roaring was actually a strong gale force wind (80 km/h +, 9 Beaufort). And it is freezing, must be coming directly from...

Restaurant lunch, not something we do often. We've passed a nice local place, nothing pretentious, a few times while out walking and decided to to give it a try today since we wanted to be out.
Very nice concept - buffet style...

There are not many insects that live as long as a periodical cicada. They can live up to 17 years, mostly underground. When they emerge after all that time, it is to mate and then die. Only the males sing, and each species has a...

I love egg cups. It is an eminently civilised manner of eating a boiled egg. The egg comes out easily, you don't need to burn your hands, its a neat and it keeps the egg warm.
But I see, after some trawling on the net, that you...

Got my locks shaped at a hairdresser. Granted, both locks and shaping leans more to hyperbolic dreaming than to the actual happenings at the salon.
A few observations about this process:
Why is it that as I grow older, I've got...

And here we have a February entrant for idiot of the year. At 83, one would think that you would be at the top of your chosen profession. You should be able to do whatever it is you do for a living, fairly easily.
Not his one. At...

Yesterday we went to Carrefour - not the hypermarket, but the small one in town. Dalene saw bananas advertised at far less than half the price bananas normally sell for. So we went bananas and took a whole bunch. But we could not...

Woke up to being fogged in this morning. Its like being inside a cloud that is just sitting and not going anywhere. And its gray. Really the sort of weather that makes me feel listless.
To at least attempt to be a useful person...

In my head, asking for your tip before you even do anything, either makes you a very optimistic person or you are so bad you make sure you get your "reward" before the customer actually has the opportunity to experience your bad...
