Charl23 I'm not sure they are worse than before. I mean there were some MAJOR disasters in antiquity. Also, 100 years ago you wouldn't hear about stuff that happened across the globe. Maybe we just hear about things more now.

Charl23 I think it's a bad idea to ever lend money to friends unless you make it a gift (not expecting to get it back) and then just feel happily surprised if they decide to pay you back one day. Loans seem to just lead to heartache. :(

Charl23 When I was collecting a pay check, I always liked to have some money deposited directly into savings. That way I never saw it (or spent it!) and I never had to remember to transfer it to savings. It built up fast that way!
