Do you do the same thing every year for Christmas and other holidays? When my husband and I moved in together, We put the special things he did together with the special things that I did. We open our presents on Christmas Eve and...

pumpkinjam We do the same thing every Christmas. I will make a big Christmas dinner. The exact ingredients might vary but it will be two or three types of meat, some roast potatoes (and maybe other roasted root vegetables), green veg, Yorkshire pudding, gravy, and maybe...

I try to keep diverse foods here. Right now I have pasta and olive oil, some frozen dinners, Summer sausage and cheddar cheese, among other things, all ready for action.
But when certain things run out, I automatically go to the...

Fod trucks are not very common in the suburb I stay in but there is one that comes regularly to the park we sometimes go to. Last evening, I finally succumbed to the temptation when I saw it as we were in the park after ages. We...

pumpkinjam We have one in the town that does baked potatoes with various fillings. I think I have had food from there once or twice, but not for a long time. Although, the lady that runs that van did cater for my sister's 50th birthday party earlier this year.
I used to...

TGIFridays has filed for bankruptcy. So many restaurant chains can't make it these days.
Did you turn your clocks back?
Breakfast - PB&J sandwich
Lunch - Meals on Wheels - Meatloaf, mashed potatoes, green beans
Dessert/Snack...

pumpkinjam I didn't know that TGIFridays had filed for bankruptcy. We have them here but I've never been to them. It has never appealled to me, and my nearest one is hard to get to. Restaurants (and other businesses) are having a hard time. It's a balancing act to keep...

We all plan various things in our lives. At times we challenge our friends for doing or for not doing certain things.
These challenges can be interesting at times and at times they can be just for fun.
But I personally feel there...

pumpkinjam I don't use/do some of those things anyway. Unfortunately, not using the Internet for one month would mean having to take a month off work!
I only use Facebook and WhatsApp. I only use WhatsApp because of a community group that insists on using it. Hopefully,...

There are billions of people on this planet. But interestingly there are only a handful of them with whom you tune instantly and this tuning goes (can go) on for long period of time.
I have seen a few friends here on MyLot with...

pumpkinjam I think an instant connection is very rare. It can take time to develop a connection, and many people seem too busy to take such time. Some people also judge quickly and incorrectly. I know I used to be quite shy, which some people equated to being boring....

There was no answer yesterday when I called my husband a couple of times; and he did not call me.
My husband's second cousin made all the copies that I'll need to file the next appeal. I doubt we'll win; but we had to try.
We...

I was at the post office and bought one stamp a couple of days ago. I could hardly believe it..73 cents!! Now that is ridiculous! It would be one thing if we were getting good service, but mail delivery in this
state is notably...

pumpkinjam If I've calculated/converted correctly, our stamps cost more. The 2nd class stamp would work out the equivalent of a few cents more, I think, but the 1st class stamp is more than double. Ours have increased five times in three years. I have the same issue as...

Do you think silence is the best answer for someone who doesn't understand your feelings, who ignores you..As far as i am concerned silence is the best answer.
If we keep silent, we can avoid many problems.
What do you think so?

pumpkinjam If you're being ignored anyway then it is probably best to not bother. Saying that, it can sometimes be better to talk. If you can get the person to at least listen so you can explain any problem and talk through it. If you've tried and the situation stays the...

pumpkinjam Everything is getting more expensive. I am not getting poorer. My financial situation is the best it has ever been. We can afford some luxuries by saving. I say saving but my husband and I have been very poor. We still live like poor people in some ways so...

The list I wrote down it pretty basic, but it's what I want to get done--hopefully...

Because it is a hardship to actually go inside the store shopping, I often get the groceries delivered.
I am grateful to have this option, though I well pay a hefty price for this service.
Still Ubers would cost more and the buses...

pumpkinjam I did notice a bag fee recently. I don't think there is an option to ask for no bags/fewer bags. However, one store does give you some money back if you return their bags. Unfortunately, that store is more expensive and doesn't have all the things I need!
Our...
